You might have installed MongoDB on your system and trying to run it by using ‘mongod’ command from its installation’s ‘bin’ folder. Now, you may get the error “shutting down with code:100”.

Reason for the Error:

When you try to run ‘mongod’, MongoDB runs at port number 27017 and tries to establish the database path to a folder ‘C:\data\db’. When this folder is not available, it exits with error code 100.

Solution for MongoDB Shutting down with code:100 error

The solution for the problem is create a folder ‘data’ inside your ‘C’ drive and create another folder ‘db’ inside that data folder ‘C:\data\db’.

With the above folders in place, now you should be able to connect to the database without any problem.
